AUA Statement on Qualifying from 2009 U.S. 24-Hour Run National Championship for 2010 U.S. National Team to World 24-Hour
"The 2009 U.S. 24-Hour Run National Championship, to be hosted by The North Coast 24-Hour in Cleveland, OH on Oct. 3-4, 2009, will have some specific bearing on the selection of one or more members of the 2010 U.S. National Team to the World 24-Hour. At the present time (April 2009) we cannot say specifically how many of the top American finishers in the 2009 North Coast event will be automatically selected to the 2010 National Team, or what mileage standards they may have to achieve for automatic selection. The reason for the uncertainty at the present time is that the date of the 2010 IAU World 24-Hour has not yet been announced. For example, a World 24- Hour in the earliest months of 2010 (i.e., shortly after the 2009 U.S. National 24-Hour) would call for a significantly different national team selection process than a World 24-Hour in the latest months of 2010 (which could possibly be held even after the 2010 U.S. National 24-Hour). As soon as possible after the announcement of the date of the 2010 World 24-Hour, the American Ultrarunning Association (AUA) will announce the selection process for the 2010 National Team, including the specific details of qualifying for that team from the 2009 North Coast 24-Hour."- Dan Brannen, Executive Director, AUA
